Need help with winter fuel payments? Are you eligible for pension credit.?

It is estimated that up to 880,000 households are entitled to Pension Credit but not currently receiving it. Pension Credit is a means tested benefit which is paid to people over state pension age and on a low income to help with the cost of living. It is also a ‘passporting’ benefit –if you get pension credit you will also get additional help such as housing benefit and council tax support, and the winter fuel payment (WFP) which will now only be paid to pension aged people in receipt of Pension Credit (or other qualifying means tested benefits).

Pension Credit can be back dated by up to 3 months (subject to meeting the qualifying criteria) The last date you can claim Pension Credit in order to be eligible for the WFP is the 21st December 2024.
