New Evolve Programme to Support Tamworth Residents

Tamworth Citizens Advice Bureau

Tamworth Citizens Advice Bureau has started an exciting new project offering intensive support to help local people who are unemployed or economically inactive to remove barriers to progression, regain their confidence and move closer to the jobs market.

They will be working in partnership with Steps to Work, who are leading the Evolve Programme made up of 18 partner organisations to support the delivery of a variety of projects across the Tamworth, Lichfield, Cannock, and East Staffordshire areas.  The Evolve Programme is part of the Building Better Opportunities Programme being funded for 3 years by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Union through the European Social Fund.

David Gooding, Chief Executive Officer of BRANCAB that incorporates Tamworth Citizens Advice Bureau said ‘we are delighted to be working with Steps to Work on this innovative programme. We are leading a similar programme across Coventry and Warwickshire and we are already seeing positive results being achieved for participants of that programme. The experience we have already gained will help us to make a positive start to this work in Tamworth’.

Tamworth CAB will be helping local residents to overcome social welfare law problems such as debt, welfare benefits, housing and relationships problems that can be barriers to progression. Additional support, individually tailored to participants’ needs, will be available including help to improve money management skills, accessing best deals, support to produce a personal action plan to develop new skills that enables participants to develop their confidence, skills and to plan for the future. Each participant will be fully supported by their Evolve Support Worker throughout their time on the programme.
